This recipe is extremely similar to one I made last year, and my girlfriends loved it SO much, I had to find an excuse to make it again. The vanilla panna cotta is just such a good base to get creative with your presentation.

This presentation was inspired by Black Panther for my annual Oscar party. I thought the blue and purple, plus topped with the black non-peril topping would be great to represent Wakanda!

Needless to say, it was another HUGE hit!

Ingredients
1 envelope unflavored gelatin (about 1 tablespoon)
2 tablespoons cold water
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup half and half
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
(blue & purple food coloring – optional)
Black sprinkles or nonpareils

Directions:

In a very small saucepan sprinkle gelatin over water and let stand about 1 minute to soften. Heat gelatin mixture over low heat until gelatin is dissolved and remove pan from heat.

In a large saucepan bring cream, half and half, and sugar just to a boil over moderately high heat, stirring. Remove pan from heat and stir in gelatin mixture and vanilla.  (add coloring here if you choose.)

Divide cream mixture among ramekins of your choice and cool to room temperature. (For this particular recipe, I layered the blue and the purple, but chilling the blue in the fridge until it started to solidified and poured the next layer.) You’ll need to add the nonpareils when it’s partially set, so they don’t sink in, nor just sit on top.) Chill ramekins, covered, at least 4 hours or overnight.

If wanting to serve outside of the ramekin, dip ramekins, 1 at a time, into a bowl of hot water 3 seconds. Run a thin knife around edge of each ramekin and invert ramekin onto center of a small plate.
