Haymaker, located in Uptown Charlotte, with beautiful windows and lighting, is just around the corner from Romare Bearden Park and the Charlotte Knight’s stadium.  I had a group of 8 ladies head out for Malisa’s birthday, so we were able to try a variety of dishes (which I always think is so much fun.)  Chef William Disson also stopped by to check in, which is always nice to see at restaurants.

I’m starting with my favorite dish, and the one I keep thinking about afterwards: Foraged Mushroom Toast country bread, foraged mushrooms, chèvre, radish, pickled ramps, mustard frill.  Something about the acid of the pickle with the creamy got cheese and mushrooms that really made this dish unique. IMG_1108

During our appetizer round, we nibbled on both the meat and cheese charcuterie boards, as well as the whole wheat levain bread and Hushpuppies with jalapeno butter. (Yes, the bread is worth paying $6 for.)

One of our girlfriends in vegan, and luckily, their herb dumplings with greens, carrrots and mushrooms was my favorite entree (and the smashed potatoes were nice and crispy.)

Other items we ordered included the NY strip with chimichurri, NC grouper, mac and cheese, and peach salad. (The pork belly was consumed before photo evidence could occur. lol.)

For Dessert (which is a must for a birthday celebration), we tried the Chocolate Brownie Torte, Pineapple Coconut Tart, and Almond Plum Cake.

Great location for an after work drink, or pre-baseball nice dinner!
